This Privacy Policy describes how Diabetes Amigo (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit https://www.diabetesamigo.com (the “Site”). This is a general policy for a small personal blog and related tools. It is not legal advice.
Who we are
Diabetes Amigo is a parent-run website about living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). Contact: use the form on our Contact page, or email the address listed in site admin notices if provided there.
Information we collect
Information you provide
If you use our contact form or email us, we may receive your name, email address, and message content. We use that only to respond to you.
Automatic information
Like most websites, we and our service providers may collect technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring URL, and approximate location derived from IP. This may be collected via cookies, server logs, and similar technologies.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4) or similar tools to understand aggregate traffic (for example, which pages are popular). Google may process data under its own policies. You can use browser controls or Google opt-outs where available.
How we use information
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Site
- To respond to messages you send us
- To understand traffic and content performance
- To detect abuse or technical issues
- To comply with law when required
Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with service providers who help run the Site (for example hosting, analytics, email delivery, security). Those providers should use data only to perform services for us. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
Affiliate links and third-party sites
The Site may include affiliate links (including Amazon). If you click those links and buy something, the merchant may collect data under their privacy policy. See our Disclosures page for more about affiliate relationships. We are not responsible for third-party sites.
Social platforms and developer integrations
We may use third-party platforms (for example Pinterest, Instagram, or similar) to share our own content. When we connect a developer app or API to our own business accounts, that connection is for publishing and managing our content only. We do not operate a multi-user social app that signs in other people’s Pinterest (or similar) accounts.
If you interact with our profiles on those platforms, their privacy policies apply to data they collect.
Cookies
We and our providers may use cookies and similar technologies for basic site function, analytics, and remembering preferences (such as dark mode if enabled). You can control cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work if cookies are blocked.
Data retention
We keep contact messages and logs only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law, then delete or anonymize them when practical.
Children
The Site is intended for adults (parents and caregivers). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us and we will delete it when we can identify it.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Your choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Contact us via the Contact page and we will try to honor reasonable requests. You can also opt out of analytics cookies via browser tools where available.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
Not medical advice
Content on this Site is for general information and parent experience only. It is not medical advice. Always follow your care team for medical decisions.
